Moana Hom (she/her) is a Hawaiian-Chinese production designer and art director based in Los Angeles. Her work is rooted in mo’olelo (storytelling), shaped by the teachings of her mākuahine, her education at Loyola Marymount University, and years of creative collaboration across a multitude of productions in film, music, music festivals and advertising.
She’s art directed music films and videos for Olivia Rodrigo and Billie Eilish, and art coordinated over 100+ union commercials, including Beyoncé’s Verizon Super Bowl spot. Her Hawaiian heritage is a driving force in her creative work, and she is committed to the preservation and visibility of Native Hawaiian stories on screen.
Through her work, Moana seeks to cultivate spaces that reclaim and highlight a more genuine Hawaiian perspective. She recently production designed Moloka‘i Bound, which won Best Hawai‘i Made Feature at the 2024 Hawai‘i International Film Festival. She is currently in pre-production for the production design of the Hawaiian feature Makawalū (2025) and the Hawaiian comedy feature Shoots (2026), and serves on the HIFF screening committee.
